Equipping Leaders to Enable People to Perform

What skills, traits and techniques do really effective leaders apply? This workshop will enable participants to:

1. Define what really effective leaders
    actually do day to day

2. Help them identify and understand the
    motivational needs of their people

3. Agree motivational performance and
    development goals

4. Apply techniques to encourage
    individual accountability for their on
    going high performance delivery

5. Adapt personal communication and
    leadership
styles to meet the needs of
    individuals within the team

6. Identify and manage the development needs of their team

7. Conduct a coaching meeting to engage and motivate people to high levels of
    performance

8. Create and follow through a Personal Development Plan

As part of the programme design phase we will work with you in order to:
• Use your current organisational priorities to ensure a business focus throughout the
   programme

• Incorporate your organisational Values, and demonstrate how these link to specific
   manager and staff behaviours

• Ensure any workshop activities and content "dovetails" with the organisational Vision
   and Mission

• Identify and apply any specific manager and staff behavioural performance standards
   within the workshop content/design

Our programme structure supports real evaluation:
We recommend a two and a half-day programme. Day Two is conducted two to three weeks after the Day One event. A half-day follow-up event is conducted four to six weeks after completion of Day Two.

Structuring the programme in this way supports and encourages work place activity following attendance of the modules and provides an excellent basis for evaluating the overall programme.

Pre-work for Day One:
The participant has a short one to one with their manager to discuss their learning priorities and the support they may need from their manager to follow through any personal development plan.

Day One:
• Course expectations

• Roles of the Performance Leader

• Performance management principles

• Setting Clear Goals and Objectives

• What motivates you, what motivates your people?

Lunch

• Managing communication with others - what are my leadership style preferences?

• Team Development - helping teams that get stuck

• Effective delegation planning

• Personal Action Planning

Pre-work for Day Two:
Review your Performance Management Framework and materials and complete a Learning Styles Questionnaire

Day Two:
• Learning review - what activities have you implemented from Day One Action Plans?

• Your Performance Management Framework - group discussion and syndicate working

• Coaching performance introduction

• Learning Styles and coaching

• Coaching performance - conversation management, effective listening skills and
    techniques

Lunch

• Practical checklists for performance meetings

• How to deliver effective performance feedback

• Real life Performance scenarios and coaching practise

• Personal Action Planning

Day Three (half-day) - Learning review and Personal Action Planning Update

Participants are asked to meet up approximately four to six weeks after completion of Day Two to discuss their learning and progress with Personal Action Plans.

Typically we suggest two syndicate groups per cohort create and present their learning and outline a summary of group and personal actions they have implemented following participation in the workshops. (Time will need to be scheduled for these syndicate groups to meet and prepare their presentations).

Presentations are conducted to two to three Board and/or members of the Senior Management Team.

We also suggest participants consider prior to this follow-up, questions they would like to put to the Board/senior team as part of a short, business focused and structured Q and A session.

This follow-up module usually lasts 2-3 hours and could be conducted by internal facilitators. This half-day event is also an excellent way to evaluate the effectiveness of the overall programme.
